  • PROJECT CHIZUK

    Posted: Wed, 09/16/2009
Boruch Hashem, in the past few months, Project Chizuk has helped numerous individuals with their job searches and many people have successfully found new positions. Unfortunately, there are still many of our friends and neighbors still looking for a job. Project Chizuk can only help if the jobs database continues to remain updated and current. Our website, http://www.projectchizuk.com has a link for "More Direct Access Jobs." It can be viewed at: https://sites.google.com/site/projectchizukresources/Home/direct-access. It is vitally important that this site be kept as up-to-date as possible. DOES YOUR COMPANY HAVE OPENINGS LISTED ON ITS WEBSITE? If your company’s open positions can be found on the internet, and you are in the position to pass on a resume, please send the link to: so we can let local job seekers know about the positions. Job seekers will not contact you directly, and our coordinator will only contact you if we have a candidate whom we think is a fit and whom our professional job placement specialist has already met. DO YOU KNOW ABOUT JOBS? Everyone is asked to please post individual positions to whenever you are in a position to pass on a resume to anyone who can help a qualified candidate get an interview. If you know of an open position, you can also browse resumes of candidates and see their qualifications on http://www.projectchizuk.com, if you are signed up as an employer/volunteer.
  • Yamim Noraim Reservations

    Posted: Mon, 09/14/2009
General Reservations will be accepted starting September 7th. Links for all the reservation forms are available below. Because of the new seating configuration, no seats in the Main Shul from last year were saved. Seats are assigned on a first-come first-served basis.

Although we appreciate the financial burdens of our members, nevertheless, for the well being of our Shul, we are continuing last year’s policy - reservations will only be accepted when all outstanding Shul balances, including Yamim Noraim reservations, have been paid in full. Balances may be charged to a credit card by calling or emailing the office. Credit cards are also accepted online here.
You can also make arrangements to automatically charge a portion of your balance monthly.
To reserve seats, you must first pay any outstanding balance.

If you cannot pay your outstanding balance, please make arrangements to privately speak to Howie Penner so that we can agree on a plan acceptable to you and the Shul.

For your convenience, Mr. Penner will also be available in the shul office Wednesdays and Sundays, starting September 2nd, between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm. If these times are not convenient, please call him at home, 973-777-5799.
Please don’t wait until just before Yom Tov to clear your account; make your reservations early.

  • Shabbos HaGadol 5769 – Shabbos April 4, 2009

    Posted: Thu, 04/02/2009
Drosha will begin at 5 pm and is open to men and women.
As I have mentioned, the last part of the Drosha will deal with a mature subject matter - parental discretion is advised.
As I prepare for hours and hours for the Drosha, and place much thought and effort into its construction and presentation, please adhere to the following guidelines:
    1. Please be on time- it is disturbing to me when people swagger in late. Please note, although everyone is always welcomed all of the time, I do ask that you do your best to be there on time.
    2. Please attempt to stay to the very end of the Drosha, although I do not expect everyone to agree with the Drosha, however, I do hope that people will stay until the end of the Drosha. If you have to leave early I will understand, however, please do your best to stay until the end of the Drosha.
    3. The outline for the Drosha- is as follows: from 5 pm to approximately 6 pm- I will deal with the classical Jewish sources. From 6 until whenever (we will make our own Minyan for Mincha if I go past 6:45 pm) I will deal with the ‘Mussar’ part of the Drosha.
    4. As indicated, I put much time and effort into making a quality presentation as all of you are very precious to me and therefore you deserve nothing less. I will attempt to be:
      • Funny
      • Provocative
      • Thoughtful
      • Bold and brazen
      • Out of the box
      • Non-conventional
      • Controversial
      • Intriguing
      • Original
      • Challenging

This November, in addition to the presidential and senate election, registered voters in Passaic will choose a Mayor and one of seven Council Members on the City Council. This is a highly significant election. It will have a lasting impact on our quality of lives and the taxes we pay. If you have not yet registered to vote, or if you have recently changed your address within the community, please do so as soon as possible. Voter Registration Applications (for Passaic County Residents) are available here: http://www.state.nj.us/state/elections/form_pdf/co-vrf-forms/passaic.co.voter-form-071008.pdf Or feel free to reply to this message () and we can email or postal mail it to you. Any child who has recently turned 18 should also be registered to vote. Completing the registration form will take less than three minutes; it will have a vital impact on issues confronting the community. Just a few years ago, one candidate lost his election by only 11 votes. Your vote could be the one to make the difference on behalf of issues vital to your friends, neighbors and the community. The ability to affect government locally and statewide is the direct result of voting. The success of our political leaders is the result of the community’s commitment to vote.
