The Short Vort
Good Morning!
Today is Friday the 18th of Tammuz 5769 and July 10, 2009
The Power of a Thank You
Yesterday, if you can remember that far back, I spoke about the power of Klal Yisroel.
I spoke about how Klal Yisroel does not need a police force for them to abide by the laws of Hashem.
By virtue of the fact that Hashem gives us His laws, we choose on our own to abide by the laws of Hashem.
I must admit that I was surprised when one person actually admitted to me that they did secretly take a drink. However, I still maintain that most people of course did not take a drink or eat.
However, I was utterly shocked when I saw the following response from one congregant.
One person told me ‘thank you’ for writing yesterday’s Short Vort.
They told me the following; I am writing it almost verbatim as the person told it to me:
It was ten o’clock in the morning. And I was of course fasting. I needed my morning cup of coffee. I was thirsting and hungry. I needed a drink and I needed to eat something. I was about to go the fridge and finally give in and get myself a drink and take a cup of coffee.
I was looking at the cookies and looking at the pretzels and thinking to myself how can I hold out? How can I possibly continue fasting for another twelve hours?
I told myself that to stall I would check my email and see what I can read just to push off my eating for another ten minutes.
As I was reading the emails I noticed The Short Vort; I figured that this would be a diversionary tactic for at least ten minutes.
As I opened The Short Vort- I could not believe my eyes. The Vort was exactly what I needed. Here it is- what I needed to hear and when I needed to hear it.
After I read the Vort and I decided to wait. After all, how can I eat after Rabbi Eisenman stated how Hashem law’s are to be observed even without soldiers or cameras?
I decided to wait.
I waited one hour and then I waited two hours and then two more hours and finally the next thing I knew, it was time for Mincha and then Maariv and Baruch Hashem I did it.
And for that I thank you for The Short Vort.
He might not realize it, however, that “thank you” made my day.
That “thank you” changed my entire day; it gave me the strength and courage to continue and go on.
That “thank you” empowered me in a way that I could not have imagined.
The person who is out there, you know who you are.
I want to tell you something, thank you; you have no idea what you did for me.
Do someone a favor today, tell them thank you, you will make their day.
